A Foundation for the Future
We're about to complete one of the most
eventful and important years in the history of Nityananda Institute, a
year in which we put into place more groundwork for the future. Here are the highlights:
The July Retreat
The July Retreat was one of the finest and happiest events in the life
of our community. We had much to celebrate, with the consecration of the
long-awaited Rudi statue, Swamiji's birthday, and the joy of sharing an
ever more amazing life. Read the

The 3 Gurus
The July retreat segued into the 3 Gurus program, hosted in Portland for
the first time. Swamiji joined Swami Shankarananda from the Shiva Ashram
in Mt. Elize, Australia, and Master Charles Cannon of Synchronicity Foundation
in Virginia, for a week of programs. There were evening programs for five
days, followed by a weekend intensive. Although the weekday programs were
held only in the evenings, we all felt that we were having another full
week of retreat. Read the complete article

Lama Wangdu Rinpoche Visit
Our work with Lama Wangdu Rinpoche continued this year with the introduction
of yet another significant sadhana, the Marchungma practice. We enjoyed
his company and his wisdom, and benefited greatly from his presence and
the many pujas he did for the ashram and its students. Read

Portland Programs, the Movement Center and Rudra Press
Our programs in Portland have continued to expand under the leadership
of Howard Boster. We saw a number of changes and innovations in both the
Institute and Movement Center offerings this year, with very positive
effects. Rudra Press has a number of new products in the works. Read

House and Garden
This year was one of major improvements, with emphasis on the shrine area
and the boiler. A number of other smaller projects enhanced the aesthetic
appeal of our already splendid environment. Read

News from Asia and at Home
We end with news about significant events in the lives of members
of our community, including Swamiji's time in Asia this year. Read

A Look Ahead
As 2006 comes to a close, our community is stronger
and more vibrant than ever. In the coming years, we will buld on the foundation
we have put in place, continuing to extend the scope and quality of our
programs and the range of our audience. Swamiji promises a whole new level
of work for all of us.
To continue the momentum we generated this year, we'll need financial
support. The completion of the boiler project, hosting Lama Wangdu for
several months, and completing the Rudra Press publication projects will
cost, at a minimum, $75,000. We welcome you to participate in the future
of the Institute by making a donation that is as generous as possible.
